About the event
About Peter
Peter was diagnosed with bowel cancer and despite a long fight, passed away in 2013. He was special to us all and his memory lives on, especially through this great social event, started in 2017 by a Rob Gale and Pete Price. He would have loved the event and we hope you can join us for this special day.
The event itself
As many of you will know, Peter was a keen cyclist, riding on and off-road every weekend, even when he was unwell. Following his passing a group of his close friends came up with the idea of a cycle ride in his memory and here we are. The first event was a huge success with a large group of family and friends meeting for a ride and a social catchup. We know Peter would have loved the idea, and we look forward to seeing you all at the 2023 ride where we welcome cyclist and non cyclist friends.
Charities
As well as being a great social event, the ride is about supporting a cause close to us all, as Peter, along with millions of others suffer from cancer. In 2019 we raised over £5000 for St Margarets Hospice, where Dibby works as a volunteer for this amazing charity. For 2023 we are raising money for Bowel Cancer UK who actively research potential cures and treatments as well as supporting patients and families living with cancer. Donations can be made through our just giving page, where we ask that entrants to the ride make a minimum donation of £10 which includes entry to the ride (BBQ & refreshments will be available from Cale Cafe after the event for a charge). Our target for 2023 is £3500 so please dig deep and help us for such a worthwhile cause.

For 2023 the ride will be in association with Wincanton Wheelers.
Founded in 2017 by a group of cycling enthusiasts to provide the town and region with a fun, social cycling club that welcomes everyone.
